Cancún - Holbox Island

Head north to Chiquilá, where you’ll leave your car behind to board a boat to Holbox Island. Here, there’s no car traffic, just narrow paths of fine sand and small golf carts. The atmosphere is peaceful, still untouched by mass tourism. Holbox : Nature and Authenticity. The island is renowned for its endless beaches, its welcoming fishing community, and its exceptional biodiversity. From June to September, Holbox becomes the prime spot for observing majestic whale sharks.

Holbox

Holbox - Valladolid

After the return ferry ride to Chiquilá, you’ll head out on the road toward Ek Balam, one of Mexico’s most fascinating archaeological sites. Ek Balam and the X’Canche Cenote. Still relatively uncrowded, the site features imposing pyramids, some of which you can still climb. From the summit, the view of the jungle is spectacular. Just a few minutes away by bike, the X’Canche Cenote invites you to take a refreshing swim amid the dense forest. Valladolid, Capital of the Mayan East. You continue to Valladolid, a charming colonial city founded in the 16th century. In the evening, savor a local specialty such as Valladolid longaniza, a smoked sausage with a unique flavor.

Valladolid - Rio Lagartos - Valladolid

Early in the morning, you’ll head north to the Rio Lagartos Reserve. This protected area is known for its exceptional wildlife: crocodiles, ibises, cormorants, and, above all, spectacular colonies of flamingos. Photo safari and pink lagoons. Aboard small boats, you’ll explore the mangrove-lined canals. Nearby, Las Coloradas site captivates visitors with its pink lagoons, caused by salt deposits. This unique sight is one of the iconic landscapes of the Yucatán. Return to Valladolid at the end of the day to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of this colonial city.

Valladolid - Mérida

Chichén Itzá, a wonder of the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Chichén Itzá is undoubtedly one of Mexico’s most iconic archaeological sites. You’ll discover the Pyramid of Kukulcán, a masterpiece of architecture and cosmological symbolism, the observatory dedicated to astronomy, and the largest Mesoamerican ball court. Swimming at the Yokdzonot cenote. After the tour, head to the Yokdzonot cenote, still off the beaten path. This natural pool, nestled in the heart of dense vegetation, offers a refreshing break. A local community has set up a small restaurant there, the perfect opportunity to savor regional cuisine before hitting the road again.

 

Mérida, the White City : Arrival in Mérida, the cultural capital of Yucatán. Uxmal - Campeche

Less crowded than other sites, Uxmal reveals its refined architecture, dominated by the Pyramid of the Magician and the Convent Quadrangle.
