Difficulty: Simple

Mexico City has always fascinated me with its contrasts. In just a few days, you can go from the colonial grandeur of the Zócalo to the colorful canals of Xochimilco, then soar above the pyramids of Teotihuacan on a hot-air balloon ride. I wanted to bring these experiences together to showcase the capital in all its richness, stress-free, with the comfort of a private driver and top-tier accommodations. For me, this trip is the best way to experience the city: to immerse yourself in its energy, heritage, and traditions.

Day 2 :

Mexico City

After breakfast, meet in the hotel lobby for a guided tour of the city, including the Zócalo, one of the largest squares in the world. The continent’s largest cathedral stands before you. Its three naves house numerous chapels resplendent with gold, including the “Chapel of Forgiveness.” This building stands on the exact spot where the great Aztec temple known as “Teocalli” once stood. Next, head to the National Palace, the seat of the Presidency. It stands on the site of Moctezuma’s Palace and features frescoes painted by Diego Rivera, the famous Mexican muralist. Then the Templo Mayor, a remnant of the ancient Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan… a pre-Columbian temple in the middle of an urban jungle, surprising!

In the afternoon, visit the National Museum of Anthropology, considered one of the most harmonious settings designed to bring antiquities to life. This museum houses a vast collection of archaeological artifacts from pre-Columbian Mexico and presents, in a lively and educational way, the ethnic groups that have lived (and still live) in Mexico.

Day 3 :

Mexico City

Early morning departure from the hotel to enjoy the sunrise in the Teotihuacan Valley. Board our hot air balloon to view the site from an exceptional vantage point. As you float peacefully in the cool morning air, take in two major monuments, the Pyramids of the Moon and the Sun; the Temple of Quetzalcóatl, known for its feathered serpent; as well as the Temple of the Feathered Snails and the Palace of the Jaguars. The “City of the Gods” dates back to the 7th century and was likely, with its 200,000 inhabitants, the most populous city in the world at that time. Once back on the ground, enjoy a light meal before receiving your flight certificate.

For a comprehensive tour of the site, you can also take the classic guided tour.

Back in Mexico City, you’ll then visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, inaugurated in 1976. A major pilgrimage site, Catholics come from all over the world to visit it. It is the most important religious site in Latin America. It houses a replica of the Black Madonna, located behind the choir. You will also explore the old basilica, built there following the Virgin’s apparitions, with construction beginning in the 16th century and concluding in the 18th. Built on soft ground, it is slowly sinking.

Day 4 :

Mexico City

After breakfast, depart by private transport for the southern part of the city, where you’ll visit the small bohemian village of Coyoacán, which remains a haven for many artists. Visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, where the Mexican painter’s presence is still palpable, followed by the Leon Trotsky Museum, where he took refuge during his frantic flight from Lenin.

In the late morning, head to the southeast of the city for lunch aboard the boats of Xochimilco, where you’ll enjoy the festive colors and flavors of Mexico.

In the afternoon, head to the city’s largest park, Chapultepec Park. The castle that served as the residence of the Spanish viceroys and Mexican presidents Maximilian and Porfirio Díaz stands at the heart of the park.
